CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Sunday November 22, 2009: Like an army of ants, they came and converged into a 5,000-strong army of CFC-IC loyalists, expressing solidarity and unity with one another during the 22nd CFC Anniversary in Misamis Oriental, almost three months since the unfortunate and uncharacteristic break-up of the once formidably-solid local CFC Community, on July 30, 2009, when the highest Provincial Leaders unilaterally severed their ties with the Global CFC Community and founded a separatist group that continued to practice the CFC culture while disowning and defying the CFC structure.

God held His faithful CFC community in His loving embrace and ensured their joyful celebration even as Under our FATHER GOD'S tender and loving care, in the Palm of His Hands, thousands of CFC celebrators walked the parade of colors in a cool morning air towards McArthur Park, felt the warm sun miraculously appear and shine brightly towards mid-morning for the celebration of the HOLY MASS by His Excellency, Archbishop Antonio Ledesma, SJ, DD, and savored the soothing raindrops falling softly, briefly, though quite threateningly during lunchtime, which actually cooled and prepared the green park's grounds for the twenty lively, colorful, breath-taking, bouncy and at times barefoot, presentations of indigenous dances depicting CFC’s 2009 theme, “FORWARD IN CHRIST!”. In turn, the presentations were capped by the the perfect execution of YFC-Misamis Oriental’s winning entry for the cheer-dance competition during last month's '(2009) Northeastern Mindanao Regional Youth Conference (RYC)' in
Brother Boie Sescon, who, together with Sister Angging Sescon “graduated” from the first, original CLP batch held in Cagayan de Oro City 22 years ago in 1987, and who acts as the Family Ministry Coordinator and Head of Sector A (while at the same time is Area Head of North-Central Mindanao Region) led the morning worship, which was followed, after the celebration of the Holy Mass, by the exhortation of Bro. Jun Waga, the Provincial Area Director, whose full shepherd voice roared to acknowledge the presence of all the provincial CFC delegations present.
After the dance-presentations in the afternoon, Bro. Joey Arguelles, Provincial Area Head of Misamis Oriental (he is at the same time a member of the 7-man CFC-IC) and Bro. Melo Villaroman, CFC-IC member and Director for Family Ministries, from
Brother Melo exhorted CFC in Misamis Oriental to keep in their hearts, FOUR “F’s: FULLNESS of CFC life (expressed in the centrality of JESUS CHRIST, the renewal of the FAMILY, and work with the POOR), FEARLESSNESS, FOCUS, and FAITHFULNESS.
As the joyful day drew to a close, the community was led to a powerful praisefest, that ended with fireworks blending with the shouts of thanksgiving for a beautiful day made in heaven…

Yes, heaven on earth simply oozed with MORE after the praisefest, as the children came up the stage with prayers and presentations - praying for the couples for Christ’s faithfulness in the community, and for God’s guidance while they “wait” to take their rightful places there...EVERY CFC MEMBER OF MISAMIS OREINTAL WAS THE WINNER THAT DAY, IS THE WINNER TODAY, AND STILL, WILL BE THE WINNER TOMORROW: FEARLESS, EVER FAITHFUL AND FOCUSED ON HIS MISSION BECAUSE OF A FULL LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST, IN A RENEWED, CATHOLIC FAMILY COMMITTED TO HELP THE POOR.

PEACE TO ALL!!! We wanted to close this blog and quit, but decided,
“No, not yet, with CFC-IC's bugle call to battle stations: the so-called ‘CFC-GK’ group has accused CFC under the International Council (IC) of being anti-poor - after 'letting go" of GK’s governance and corporate structure – and is posing new challenges to the community.”
Moreover, we think the National Council of CFC-USA has validly defined a major problem as one of having no common agreement, by both GK and CFC, on ground-based collaboration relative to "pastoral" and "developmental/operational" concerns. It was thus a difficult but necessary decision made by the CFC-IC to “go her own way”, prevent further confusion and suffering among the poor particularly in the GK villages that were built and managed by the CFC caretaker teams.
In contrast, Misamis Oriental’s case may be neither here nor there… Our defunct Council leaders who are now full-time GK “devotees” after severing their ties with CFC still live the CFC way. They have not defined the principles underlying their severance, and all that they have issued were two documents: a 2-page, double-spaced illogical letter of severance dated July 30, 2009, and a one-page “declaration of independence” on August 2, 2009, that highlighted: the “abrupt” change of CFC leadership in Bukidnon (which the separatist-leaders had no business at all), the alleged lavish accommodation they provided to visiting Manila-based leaders, the hefty share of tithes remitted to the centralized Mission Fund, and similar other “childish” (if I may?) grumbles.
We have seen our defunct leaders and their followers in Misamis Oriental fall through the cracks they have created in our CFC community, but the cracks also allow us to appreciate the nature of our problem and begin to solve it. For by straining ourselves forward in Christ to the point of snapping, we cover the cracks…and from thereon do we strive to accomplish our mission of building the churches of our homes and of the poor in the villages, fearlessly and faithfully.
On CFC-Misamis Oriental’s 22nd, we have seen God’s strong hands restore his glory in Cagayan de Oro City, which was the jump-off point to CFC missions in Northern Mindanao, and we thank Him for his faithfulness on Bro. Boie Sescon and Sis. Angging, who are among the first CLP graduates in Cagayan de Oro City 22 years ago.
Indeed, on that pleasantly-cool Sunday, November 22, 2009, CFC Misamis Oriental’s 22nd Anniversary, the Lord God made his day! “Let us be glad and rejoince in it.”

Being open-minded about profound disagreements does not mean not rejecting someone carping about the other person's happiness just to make up for his own emptiness.
Our uniquely-Filipino lingo refers to this kind of creatur as “kill-joy”; so, I suggest that low-minded comments coming from harridans like “jollify” may have to be moderated.
Any pesky “fly” from the dumps and garbage bins that hops into a festive celebration is swatted, in the same manner that it or its ilk - be it a donkey or a horse - may not fill up precious space here (although something from the horse’s “mouth” may be appreciated).

So its not your business kung kinsa tua dadto and who were the participants. Siguro mao na imo rason ngano magtake sides ta. is it because of your close friends and Families and the numbers? If only you stay with us. Kung kabalo lang siguro ka how touching and fulfilling it is to Feel God's presence and the enjoyment of our brethren. Maybe it was the likes of jollifly who unfortunately pushed JDF to the wall. It is informed that when JDF texted the membership (Mon. Aug. 3, 2009, cf. previous entries) that he has reconciled with the CFC elders, he was amenable to making a public apology; but when he met with jollifly (?) and the rest, they prevailed upon JDF to discard the letter of apology and instead make demands from the CFC-IC. Since making demands was not in the CFC culture and having affirmed their decision to sever ties, the CFC leadership cut off JDF et al from the CFC membership.
Jollifly, as work "horse" and "rah-rah boy" of JDF (King), y man imo siya gapakugon? Ako pa JDF or his real friend, tuukon ta ka for writing the two "crazy" letters, and forcing him to retract from his promise to CFC-IC to make amends through a public letter of apology on August 8, 2009. Hamak mo, if not for you, naa pa unta siya sa CFC leadership. Apan, all things happen according to God's plan... Still, we miss you and we do not miss you; hellow? gudbay.

WE ARE RESTORED BACK TO THE RIGHT PATH

Isang masaklap na bahagi nang buhay CFC MISOR ay ang kakuklangan sa information tunkol sa GK , save the Boston tour (matapos makamit ang award bilang outstanding GK site nong 2003 at nang ituring bilang provinsya na may pinakamataas na bilang ng padugo houses). Sa dami ng mga IC memo tunkol CFC GK mula 2008, wala man lang nakarating sa mga MCG members. Bakit? I can only guess. Una, kasi nakadigital ang transmission at hindi yata internet savvy ang leaders. Kakaiba nong alaw na madalas kaming makatangap nang mga IC memo tuwing may ECG teaching o gatheringa at ito'y naibahagi namin sa baba.

Akoy nabigla ng marinig ko na meron pa palang MCGG (dating ECG Gathering) sa ibang provinsya. Akala koy tuluyan nang nawala ito mula nong ito'y hininto ng aming provincial director, mahigit tatlong taon nang nakalipas. Ika nya, pati yong mga conferences sa regional o national hindi naman daw kailangan sumali kasi lousy ang speakers.. Pero wari koy yong PAD's time ay halos pareho din. Pati yong in-his-steps pangit daw (pangmasa) kay sa dedache.
Isa pa ay yong bagong culture na magcelebrate ng Lord's Day sa Lunes o anomang gustohing araw na maghousehold meeting- sector, cluster o chapter (na kadalasan ay mistulang fiesta-bongga ang pagkain)! Dagdag pa po ay yong bringing the problems DOWN instead of UP. Mga council issues tinutukoy ng sector leaders. Tulad ng matanggap ni Tony M ang balita na hindi narenew and kanyang appointment bilang provincial area head ng Misamis Or. Biglang nag-emergency meeting ang council at sector leaders para magpetition at ipagtanggol si Tony. Buti na lang at natauhan sila na yong kanilang inpormasyon ay text lamang na ipinorward ni Tony sa kanila.
Yong raising-up of MCG leaders ay mukhang hindi na dinadaan sa (discernment ng) council, deritsahan na. Ang lahat ay parang barkadahan na lamang. Ang sabi nang isang brother, naging civic club na raw kami.
Marahil marami ang nagulat sa mga pangyayari sa Misamis Oriental. THAT YOU MAY KNOW, ang totoo matagal na kaming independent at may sariling kaugalian, gaya ng mga sinabi na sa unahan.
Nang itangkang iwasto ng Regional Head-NEM na magbigay tulong sa pamamagitan ng tamang transisyon information para sa bagong Provincial Area Head na taga Manila, sangkatutak na bomba ang pinaputok sa kanya. Ang pobreng full-time worker na walang ibang mahawakan kundi ang pananalig sa Poong Maykapal at tiwala sa CFC leadership structure, ay binasbasan na tuluyang gumawa ng nararapat. Tulad ng David at Goliat, mahiwaga ang pamamaraan ng Paninoon!
Halos hindi kapanipaniwala ang mga sumunod na pangyayari. Wala sa isip ninuman na may kaluluwa na magtangkang alisin o kaya palitan ang dating provincial council ng Misamis Oriental. Kong papano na sila mismo ang "nagsever ties" at umalis sa CFC ay bagay na para sa akin ay hindi ko masagot kundi si Lord na lamang.
Kulang ako sa tukmang salita para sabihin ang kahiwagahan ng Panginoon at wisdom na ibinuhos nya sa bagong CFC International Council.

Tito Pet, salamat kay Lord that you have clearly pointed out, in simple but eloquent Filipino the real, sad, and bad situation of CFC in Cagayan de Oro under the headship of JDF, and for expressing reverential fear or awe that the Hand of Almighty God, the Planner, has been at work in the new Council after the voluntary disengagement from CFC-IC by the sseemingly-irreplacable but-now-defunct MisOr Council of JDF.
Just trying to place this mystery in some kind of perspective for possible appreciation makes me tremble at His overpowering Glory and Majesty...Yest to You, our Lord and God and Maker. Amen.
Let us pray for the eternal repose of the souls of the victims of massacre in Maguindanao, and for peaceful approach to revolve the revolting incident.
Says a priest: our "feudal" culture, the tendency to step aside while watching other people to take charge, has been their in the deep recesses of our consciousness.
Perhaps the massacre in Maguidanao can lead or egg us in Minanao to feel the beat and act as a united people that will not be easily used or manipulated for political purposes.
May this give way to "nw politis" that cares and gets very much involved.
I agree. In most anythinbg now, parang somebody just manipulates: the conflict in CFC, the conflicts in our loyalties, the coflict in Mindanao, all the other conflicts, I think - including the manipulation of JDF when he mulled signing the public letter of apology prepared by the CFC-IC.
So, may we just be UNITED, IN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS, NOT TO BE MANIPULATED BY ANY HUMAN PERSON OR REPRESENTATION. LET GO OF ALL BONDEDNESS AND SECULAR LOYALTIES. JUST LET GOD!
May the conclit in Mguindanao give us the resolve NOT TO GIVE IN TO ANY KIND OF POLITICAL MANIPULATION.
Nanduon si Rev.Msgr. Boy Salvador, saying the 10:30 Holy Mass during a gathering of some 500-600 CFC leaders at the Capitol University Gymnasium (for teaching on "First Fruits - Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009), exhorting them at the end of the Mass towards noontime that the Bishop (Msgr. Ledesma) expresses his joy at the work of Couples for Christ in the parishes around the diocese, and that the CFC leaders may come to a detailed discussion about CFC involvement as BEC.
I believe this is most welcome for us in CFC, especially that during the early part of Bishop Ledesma's assumption as Archbishop of Cagayan de Oro City, he clearly stated that the CFC in the parishes virtually constitute as the BECs.
On the other hand, since Msgr. Boy Salvador also acts as "adviser" of the separatist CFC-GK group of JDF et al, some kind of "delicadeza" will have to encourage the good Msgr. Boy to focus only on one group.
Actually, I myself feel bad that, as our "Spiritual Adviser", Fr. Boy HAS NOT forcefully come forward to mandate the patch up of differences, all in the interest of TRUTH, when the break by JDF group did occur - i.e., during the early part of the conflict or severance of ties with CFC-IC by JDF.
I also kept to myself the opinion that Fr.Boy should not encourage the break up of CFC in Misamis Oriental as some kind of productive outgrowth of CFC's development; rather, he should have first looked into the cause of the break up.
I don't mind people separating peacefully, provided it is in good taste. In short, we could have even blessed the break up of JDF et al if it was done in a civil, courteous, humble, peaceful, and prayerful manner.
Because it was not, it was the task of the likes of Monsignor Boy, our CFC Spiritual Director, to "direct" the opposing groups to the right path and disallow the break up (sorry that I now jealously recall the exhortabon of the Butuan Bishop during the gathering of Mindanao CFC leaders early this year when he emphatically said that he would not tolerate any kind of split or break up of the CFC community in his diocese!).
Still, I will endeavor to understand Msgr. Boy. I did hear him state in is homily, under a different circumstance and in another context, that truth is often victimized, quoting this adage: "When money speaks, the truth is silent...")
