FIRST FRUITS FESTIVAL!!!

at CAPITOL UNIVERSITY GYMNASIUM,
Cagayan de Oro City
BROTHERS AND SISTERS, we may bring farm products: grains (rice, corn, sweet corn, young yellow corn), fruits (may be good to bring 'bulig' or whole bunch of bananas or whole fruits like jackfruit, durian, etc.), first-born and choicest of animals [we'll ask CFC brethren to help in 'tugway' or taking care of the waste - wonder though unsaon paghandle sa pag-offer sa nati nga baka (calf) o kaha gihiktan nga baboy (pig or piglet), o manok (chicken) ... sige lang, bibo man hinoon ug birahon paingon sa altar ang buhing animal offering], cooked or uncooked food, and of course, cash offering.
Rice, fruit and others brought for offering in the festival will be given to our priests for their konsumo. Ang kadtong cooked and ready-to-eat nga pagkaon, let our families and us feast on them: nilung-ag nga rice, gabe, ube, kamote, uban pa nga rootcrops ug saging; sinugba nga isda, karne, or shells/talaba; kinilaw nga isda, talong, kamatis ug ginamos; pansit and all other noodle preparations; also cakes, pastries, and sweets.
In short, all imaginable food, ma-exotic man o dili, native man o imported, basta tanan lamian!
God's people need to enjoy a day to celebrate His favors and goodness!!!
As a people of expectant faith, we are sure we will receive abundant favors and blessings from God throught the NEW YEAR.
THUS, in the FIRST FRUITS FESTIVAL ON JANUARY 3, 2010 AT THE CAPITOL UNIVESITY GYMNASIUM, we give an OBLATION or THANKSGIVING, which is not similar to the obligation we offer through our tithes.
It will depend on each us how much we shall share with God for the uncommon graces and blessings we expect to receive from Him throughout the year.
THERE WILL BE DANCING AS CLUSTERS ARE EXPECTED TO OFFER THE DANCES PRESENTED DURING THE 22ND ANNIVRESARY, WITHOUT AS MUCH POMP, THOUGH, OR DEPENDING ON THE PRESENTORS.
PRAISE OUR ALMIGHTY GOD!!!

The Festival of Shavuot: Bringing the Firstfruits to the Temple
"You shall bring your first fruits to the House of the L-rd your G-d... " (Ex. 23:19)
The Names of the Festival
Shavuot is the anniversary of the Revelation of the Law at Mount Sinai, when the Children of Israel received the Torah from the Holy One, blessed be He. Shavuot literally means "weeks;" Shavuot is thus known as the Festival of Weeks. It is called so because it culminates the seven week period of counting the omer which begins on the second day of Passover, when the omer barley offering is brought to the Temple. But the Bible also refers to it as the "Feast of Firstfruits" (Exodus 23:16, Numbers 28:26), and the firstfruits cannot be brought to the Temple until then.
The "Seven Species" of the Land of Israel
In many ways this festival is the celebration of the Land of Israel itself, when thanks is given to G-d for the produce of the Promised Land. The bringing of the firstfruit offering to the Holy Temple is a manifestation of the land's intrinsic holiness, given expression through the holiness of the Temple. The Shavuot offering of "firstfruits" which is mandated by this Biblical commandment to be brought to the Holy Temple and presented to the priest, are the first fruits of the season which ripen on the trees. However, the Divine commandment does not include every species of fruit, but only those of the "seven species for which the Land of Israel is praised," as described by the verse in Deut. 8:8: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates.
In the beginning of the 26th chapter of the book of Deuteronomy, we find detailed instructions relating to this important occasion:
"When you come to the land that the L-rd your G-d is giving you as a heritage, occupying and settling it, you shall take the first of every fruit of the ground produced by the land that the L-rd your G-d is giving you. You must place it in a basket, and go to the site that G-d will choose as the place associated with His name. There you shall go to the priest officiating at the time, and say to him, 'Today I am affirming to the L-rd your G-d that I have come to the land that G-d swore to our fathers to give us'."
"The priest shall then take the basket from your hand and place it before the altar of the L-rd your G-d. You shall then make the following declaration before the L-rd your G-d:
'My ancestor was a homeless Aramaean. He went down to Egypt and sojourned there with a small number of men, but there he became a great, mighty, and populous nation. The Egyptians were cruel to us and caused us to suffer; they placed harsh slavery upon us. We cried out to the L-rd, the G-d of our fathers, and He heard our voice and saw our suffering, our harsh labor, and our distress.'
'The L-rd brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, with great visions, signs and miracles. He brought us to this place, giving us this land flowing with milk and honey. I am now bringing the first fruit of the land that the L-rd has given me.'
Then, you shall set the basket down before the L-rd your G-d, and then you shall bow down before the L-rd your G-d. You, the Levite, and the proselyte in your midst shall rejoice in all the good that the L-rd your G-d has granted you and your family."

“I want to start a tradition in CFC. I want it to be effected every year. I want ECG members of my family of CFC to Offer to me the First Fruits at the beginning of each year.”
“On the 1st ECG of the year, each member goes to the altar to offer an amount. I do not need money! I own it! You are not offering me your money. Your offering symbolizes all the blessings I have given to you, symbolizing all things, energy, vitality that you value in the form of money. If I do not give you talent or skills, you will not earn money.”
God symbolizes all our work as coming from Him!
You can give tithes, collection, whatever, regularly every month. But, that symbolizes your life to the community.
“If you do not give, you will not flow. This is not a fund raising. Use this expression rightly!”
Listen to God’s word, reflect, prepare. WALK TO THE ALTAR. This is a sanctified moment, solemn. There must be a crucifix, altar and candle.
“Do not simply have a plastic bag to place your offerings. That is not worthy of my Holiness! Have songs, and sing plenty of offering songs. The going to the altar, offering of money, that is the offering of yourself.’
“I want to give back to them whatever they offered to me!”
Dili na man kinahanglan nga bongga ang dancers sama adtong 22nd Anniversary, kay mag-lead lang sila sa groups of chapters, units, or households nga manayaw pud paingon sa sentro sa altar. Tanan gapanayaw (mora bitaw anang sayaw sa Sto. Niño) paingon sa altar, prodded by the cluster dancers.

Wala biya gayud gi-expect nga in-ato diay ka grand ang mga dance presentations sa Anibersaryo. Pero kung naa man plano, maayo pa i-save na lang para offering kay ang tanan nga participants mahimong dancers na man, although mag-una lang o mo-guide ang dance-presentors.
Bug-at lang magsayaw-sayaw paingon sa altar kung magdala ug usa ka bunch, lisud pud kung buhi nga baktin ang anaa ibutang sa nigo ug isayaw-sayaw. Usa ka igsoon nag-ingon nga naa iyang nakita nga baktin giputos sa bugnaw nga bani(stalk) sa saging nga mabitbit-bitbit na man lang pud...Or else, kon buhi ang dalhon, birahon na lang kaha.
Pero in the end, what is important is that we give the best to the Lord in celebration of his goodness.
SUGGESTION lang ni, ug maayo unta maka-abot sa atong mga liders sa CFC. Total, kumon man kini diri nga lugar diin makapadayag kita sa atong mga hunahuna.

1. CASH GIFT OFFERING sulod sa envelope (ihatag sa tagsa-tagsa agi pasalamat sa grasya nga makuha gikan sa Ginoo sa tibuok tuig)
2. Para sa ARCHDIOCESE OR SA KAPARIAN (naa common nila nga balay diha sa cathedral area ug didto sa pahulayan sa mga edaran na nga pari sa Carmelite area)
- BUGAS
- CANNED GOODS, INSTANT NOODLES, COFFEE, ETC.
- UTANON (pechay, cabbage, potato, sayote, pako, kangkong, dabong, o any vegetable diha sa kanta "Bahay Kubo")
- FRUITS (saging, langka, durian, avocado, marang, pinya, apples, grapes uban pa nga fruits available sa season)
- Root crops (bingala, gabi, kamote, etc.)
3. Para sa mga igsoon CFC nga NAAPEKTUHAN intawon SA BAHA ug nangawala ilang kabtangan, labi na sa AMOROS, Opol/El Salvador area ug sa Bgy. BUGO
- Start-up kitchenware: kutsara, plato, balde, kaldero, etc.
- Clothing
- Pagkaon sama atong ihatag sa kaparian
- Basic medicines
4. Para TIGUMAN UG KAN-ON NATONG TANAN:
- kan-on (cooked rice)
- kamote with ginamos
- nilung-ag gabe or lutya, bingala (also with ginamos)
- nilung-ag nga young corn ug saging
- talong salad with gata or other vegetable salads
- inun-on
- home-made sardines
- roast chicken (lechon manok), pig (liempo or whole roast pork)
- STK (sinugba, tinola, kinilaw)
- binignit and pan or pandesal

- uban pa nga native, Spanish, Chinese or Indian-influenced food (empanada, arroz valenciana, chop suey, chicken curry, binagoongang baboy, etc.)

Naa man siguro amo rice subsidy. If matuman, pledge ko usa sako bugas (problema pag-alsa).
Wonder kung naa available mais didto sa farm, kanang dili anagon peru ga-gatasgatas pa unta. Kung naa, puede siguro mga duha lang ka sako nga lung-agon ako iapil (para sa mga pari).
