There is a Christmas wish for every member, follower, and friend of CFC.
Yes, we now tread separate paths as CFC and as GK. Gimingaw gyud ko sa good old days we had in our HH meetings then, which were never infected by any of the "bickerings" of our then top provincial and sectoral leaders. Malipayon kaayo mi kaniadto ug tingali, sama sa uban, wala gayud mi magdahum nga ang dautan nga panghunahuna ni Satanas motoruk diha sa amo nga parte sa atong CFC, o kanatong tanan gayud.
So, how I wish I can personally greet and say a few good words of love and encouragement to my brothers and sisters who have joined and separated from CFC, especially the nenbers of our former HH.
Anyway, through this, may God's blessings continue to pour down on them, may His Truth set them free, and may they find continued contentment, inspiration, and happiness in the different community they have chosen.

A BIG LIE
June del Fierro declaring independence from CFC on August 2, 2009:
“…We have come to this point due to the deliberate action of IC to cut ties with Gawad Kalinga manifested by replacing leaders/supporters sitting in the Provincial Council and top positions of CFC hierarchy as in the case of Harvey Maraguinot and your provincial council…” (italics supplied)
1. FACTS:
1. Harvey Maraguinot was REPLACED as Bukidnon PAD after a one-on-one dialogue with the provincial area head, more or less one month earlier on June 16, as informed by “Pito” here. Harvey, who opted to work full-time with GK, agreed to stay on as PAD until his replacement was installed since “Kap”, who was a “shoo-in”, declined the PAD position. Proof that the Misamis Oriental Council, under JDF, was DEAD WRONG in equating its case with that of CFC and GK in Bukidnon, IS that Bros. Harvey and Kap, both very strong GK advocates, are very active members of the CFC Bukidnon Provincial Council.
2. While Harvey, was replaced as PAD by the Bukidnon CFC provincial area head on July 28 about one month AFTER being informed about it through a one-one dialogue on June 16, JDF and his Council together with the sector heads, were sacked and replaced by the new MisOr provincial area head on August 1, one day AFTER defying the CFC top leadership with their unilateral letter of severance dated July 30, 2009, nine days BEFORE the pre-scheduled visitation-dialogue with the new provincial area head on August 8.
2. OBSERVATIONS:
The statement from JDF as quoted above is SHORT OF FACTS, ILLOGICAL, AND IS A BIG LIE. This implies that GK could not be the major factor for the MisOr Provincial Council and sector heads to sever ties from CFC, which is corroborated by Pito’s observation that, at the lower leverl, there was no “discernible” sign of a mass action against CFC-IC’s decision to let go of GK governance.
“Pride and Prejudice” may fit in as the more plausible factors.
3. PRAYER

I wrote down that I wished somebody else was the MisOr PAD, although my input was late and accordingly not included in the update sent to Brother Joey Arguelles who was scheduled to (and did) come to Cagayan de Oro last August 8.
I specifically mentioned the name I wished God would anoint to lead CFC here as PAD and it turned out my wish was granted, PRAISE GOD!
Because I have a formal record of that written wish and the transmittal date to the RH-NEM, I am amused at how the GK-MisOr group can distort some specific factual events to suit its purposes.
So, take their chronology of events with a grain of salt. M-CDO correctly says that, with various versions, there is only one TRUTH. Let us all pray that we live by it.
What happened to the CFC-GK Anniversary? I saw photos of a gym filled with CFC members, Tony Meloto and some government officials.
Are they really out from CFC? Why are they still using the name CFC? Under what council are they? Obviously its not with the IC, is it with TM or CFC-FFL?
Jun del Fierro and his group cut off their ties with CFC and formed their own separate “CFC-GK Misamis Oriental-CDO Community”. They are no longer members of COUPLES FOR CHRIST (CFC), the legitimate and Vatican-recognized Catholic lay organization governed by the International Council based in Manila, Philippines.
The FFL has continued to use the name “CFC” because they surreptitiously got the approval of the SEC to revive the defunct CFCFI (CFC Foundation, Inc.), CFC’s old name that was already superseded by CFCGMFI (CFC Global Mission Foundation, Inc.). CFC filed a case of certiorari against the SEC’s decision, which is now pending resolution at the Court of Appeals.
The legitimate CFC in Misamis Oriental abided by the applicable laws and regulations governing the display of streamers by securing and paying the appropriate permits, and posted them at the prescribed areas.
PROBLEMA:
Naningil ang "traffic" enforcers for the "irregular" display of "CFC-GK" streamers on restricted areas. They were directed to go to and investigate the JDF group that also celebrated their "Anniversary" on the same day that CFC In Misamis Oriental did last November 22.
If it was true that CFC-GK indiscriminately displayed their streamers in Cagayan de Oro then we hope they will have learned their lessons... nakakahiya naman sisingilin sila ng City Government for illegal display of streamers, kahit na man they are able to pay. Such learning also includes a good reckoning of the birth and age of their pretentious "CFC-GK".
Asta kadtong CFC streamer diha dapit sa MUST (formerly Don Mariano Marcos Plytechnic State College) gipulihan pa gayud sa "CFC-GK" streamer, ug giotro ang venue - the name Provincial Capitol was removed and changed to Corpus Christi School. Si Satanas malisyoso, dili masaligan, ug manipulative. Ngano? Someone worked on the Coca Cocal staff in charge of making the streamers to change the information about the anniversary venue.
Well, CFC brethren noticed the alterations and informed the Coca Cola staff. Also, the City Govermments' Office in charge of road traffic and signages along the City's thoroughfares informed CFC about the illegal display of "CFC-GK' streames (wala man sila masayod nga separate sa CFC ang "CFC-GK" ni JDF.) Tungod ani, makaingon kita nga: sakay sila JDF sa anibersaryo sa CFC, sakay pa gayud sa paningkamot sa CFC nga makakuha ug permit aron legal ang tanan nga proceso sa pagselebrar sa anibresaryo.
Maayo unto mibayad sila JDF sa ilang illegal nga pag-display sa ilang streamers.
Let us pray that we will all be conscious of our Christianity in everything, every time, anywhere.
So they are not CFC anymore? But will they still be accepted in the fold if they wish to "come back?"
So if they are not CFCs anymore, can they use CFC-GK as their name? or GK instead?
We thought even way before that the split in CFC and GK will really create big confusions, so there it goes..

In Misamis Oriental, I believe CFC homes and hearts are always open to those who desire to rejoin the CFC Community, which should be easy - they just have to "do it" in a simple, personal act.
Any non-CFC but Christian community MAY NOT use the CFC name even if it CAN.
In time, members the "CFC-GK" in Misamis Oriental, which was born out of an unequivocal decision to server ties with CFC, will realize they are in the wrong community, if they intended to live by the CFC covenant they made with GOD.

Kaya lang, mukahang hindi matutuloy ang GK miracle kung hindi na sila kasali sa CFC community. (Sana naintindihan nila na GK governance ang ni-let go ng CFC at hindi ang GK work for the poor bago tuluyan silang kumaltas sa CFC).
Outside of MisOr, tuloy ang trabaho ng mga CFC sa GK, at ang may gustong ipaglaban ang kawsa ng GK ay hindi umalis sa CFC. Yun ang tama. Pero, dahil past na 'to, ipagdasal natin na sa madaling panahon, hindi na gamitin ng mga taga-"CFC-GK"-MIsOr ang pangalang "CFC" o kayay sabihin nilang CFC pa rin sila.

Sana, at the higher "echelon" of leadership, huwag masyadong "regimented" and pat-iisip at magiging open-minded; ibig sabihin, mag-entertain naman ng reasoned discussions, at hindi lang kaagad i-close ang free exchange of opinions for the sake of "obedience", o kaya dahil sa perception of obeying the leader. Pati sa ating religious community, habang makaya, ipag-pairal pa rin ang free expression of ideas para magiging maganda ang ating samahan. Sabi nga daw ni Voltaire, 18th century French liberal philosopher, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Sana ganito ka-extreme ang latitude for considerateness in the sharing of opinions about the direction of CFC, including ideas about authentically "following the GK way in living our CFC life", para hindi ma-stunt, to the point of insult or ridicule, ang opinions coming from below. Opinion lang po ito, M-CDO.

“NAKA-STRESS” NA GK WAY
Kahit outside of GK, may mga paraan ang CFC brethren na makatulong sa mahirap na mga kasama. Naala-ala ko ang Unit Head namin who pooled all material, cash and non-cash resources of members to permamently replace the patches of debris, cartons and salvaged wood over what was “home” on a precipituous hill to a destitute CFC family member. That kind of outreach hindi nakaka-stress because the family is part of the household who attends the regular HH meetings. Ang maka-stress ay yung kahit hindi kilala or kaya mga professional squatters ay kasama sa target GK community, whose “sweat” equity is not properly established even during the values formation sessions for “kapitbahayan”. Mabuti pa sa housing na pinairal sa paraan ng “community mortage”, hindi nagpapalya ng pagbayad sa utang for the house and lot at lalong na reinforce ang dignity nung beneficiary kasi hindi “dole out” ang dating, contrary to the impression one gets of the shelter program “the GK way”.
Pero, stama ka Brod/Sis, iba't iba ang levels of commitment natin. So I want to join in the prayer na sana in time we will all know the reasons behind.

Maybe let's wait and see while some plan about it at the chapter level. Let's start the new year with a "bang"! January 3 we'll have our FIRST FRUITS. Based on the schedule given, we'll also have the chapter leaders' training first Monday. Other clusters are planning the unit leaders' training on Tuesday a week later, followed a day after by the HH Leaders Training. I suggest the reunion will be planned months ahead, perhaps to happen sometime in June, next year. This includes honouring of all those who graduated from CLPs even if they are already inactive or have joined other groups. Then perhaps some raffles may be initiated, like if the reunion were among those in the farm areas, perhaps a plow or a sack of seeds may be given out as prizes, to include also water containers, basins, etc. The reunion will be like coming to a fiesta.
